Shanelle is part of an independent multidisciplinary group, Kelowna Professional Group

Starting 2024

Shanelle Connell operates from the philosophy to “always leave people better off than you found them.”

Shanelle’s practice is primarily remote with a Canadian health professionals security compliant video platform (JANE) that is easily accessed. Our administrative team can support connecting with your service provider.

By taking a person-centred therapeutic approach, Shanelle works toward providing a safe haven for her clients where they can comfortably let down their guard to pursue their goals. Her therapy style is often described as reassuringly familiar, warm with empathy, and light and humorous where appropriate. Shanelle’s desire for her clients to feel understood and secure helps create the trust needed to reinforce strengths and use these assets to gently and progressively reduce unhelpful patterns and build resilience and success.

Shanelle is trained in contemporary models of CBT, and she utilises attachment-based and psychodynamic perspectives as well as Narrative Therapy  and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  She will tailor her approach to what feels best aligned with her client’s needs. She enjoys individual and interpersonal work including building self-esteem and self-efficacy, setting boundaries, defining healthy relationships, working through trauma, traumatic breakups, restructuring co-dependant habits into better-coping mechanisms, and working through the grief and complexity that come after enduring abuse. She helps people in their journey to move from being vulnerable and afraid, to being capable of being bravely vulnerable. Shanelle supports clients by meeting them where they’re at, and offering strategies and tools so they can get to where they want to be.
