Dr. Glavey is currently accepting new clients.

Dr. Alisha Glavey joins the Kelowna Psychologists Group with her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, as an applicant to the College of Health and Care Professionals of B.C.  While she is an applicant and not registered, she is supervised here at Kelowna Psychologists Group by a primary supervisor, Dr. Heather McEachern (#1175 CHCPBC) as well as secondary supervisors who are registered psychologists. She has made a long term commitment to staying with KPG once registered as a psychologist. She completed a B.A. Honours in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour from McMaster University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. Dr. Glavey conducts assessment and treatment under the supervision of experienced registered psychologists here at KPG, and thus you have the benefit of service delivery from this applicant to the registration process with the CHCPBC and another experienced member of our team who is registered with the CHCPBC. Your benefit coverage will be sought by the supervisor in a transparent process identifying Dr. Glavey’s status and the supervisor’s responsibility, if you have extended health coverage, and services are rendered in a supervised practice with a direct service delivery with Dr. Glavey, the applicant to our college, and oversight by the registrant. The supervisor is readily available. There will be a number of experienced psychologists available for supervision, and your consent for service will identify the registered psychologist who is the best fit for your presenting concern to oversee service delivery. With a shortage of available direct care for mental health, Dr. Glavey is a welcome new member of our team and there is an intention for her to continue with us long-term.  She comes with  a good deal of experience, including her history practicing as a registered psychotherapist where she treated adolescents, adults, and couples. Dr. Glavey has conducted research in the areas of health psychology, military psychology, and trauma management of world crises.

Dr. Glavey uses integrative approach to treatment, drawing on different techniques from several modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy, cognitive processing therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, graduated exposure with relaxation, narrative and psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based stress. She trusts evidence based approaches for symptom reduction to best address your treatment goals. For independent assessments or treatment based assessment  she values the consideration of biopsychosocial factors, the interaction of medical factors, and a she provides a strong and thorough set of recommendations specific to you and designed to set the stage for improving your well-being.  Her clients will find a quietly confident psychotherapist who recognizes the value of the therapy relationship as a foundation of nonjudgemental acceptance and a platform for change.
