Availability
Dr. Sawatsky has special interest and experience in working with first responders and protective service personnel, including active and retired police officers, firefighters, paramedics, corrections officers, and military members. She is currently accepting new clients from BCEHS, CAF, VAC, RCMP, and municipal law enforcement agencies, and referrals for the VAC disability benefit assessment. Dr. Sawatsky is also a WSBC provider

 

Dr. Megan Sawatsky is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British
Columbia. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa, ON, and
then returned to her roots in Western Canada. She first stopped in Alberta for her Doctoral
Residency, and now enjoys living in Nelson, BC, where she works with our Satellite clinic. Dr. Sawatsky
offers in person services in Nelson and remote services to people across British Columbia and
the Yukon. She is grateful to provide services to peoples of all cultural and spiritual heritages
and identities, and she recognizes the unceded lands of the First Nations people across the
regions she serves.

Dr. Sawatsky has a history of working in a variety of hospital, forensic, community, and private
practice settings where she helped adults and youth overcome a broad spectrum of mental
health and interpersonal concerns. In Dr. Sawatsky’s practice with KPG, she works with adults,
couples, and youth to work through mental health and interpersonal challenges and to build
meaningful and fulfilling lives.

As a scientist-practitioner, Dr. Sawatsky applies evidence-based approaches while thoughtfully
tailoring services to meet clients’ unique needs and goals. Her approach is client-centered and
values the therapeutic relationship and collaboration therein. She draws on her diverse training
in cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR),
dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT), emotionally-
focused therapy (EFT), mindfulness, and insight-oriented approaches. For couples therapy, her
primary approach is emotionally-focused therapy (EFT-C).

Dr. Sawatsky’s clinical services include comprehensive psychological diagnostic assessment and
the treatment of:
