Shanelle Connell operates from the philosophy to “always leave people better off than you found them.”

Shanelle Connell has a hybrid practice seeing new patients in her office at KPG and offering (Health Profession Act compliant) secure and easy access JANE video sessions for subsequent visits. 

Ms. Connell approaches her support role with a client-centered perspective, honoring the common humanity we all share. She recognizes the importance of having her client’s co-author their goals and collaborating on personalized tools and strategies for treatment. During initial assessment, she’ll focus on your natural strengths to serve as reminders of your resilience as you work through the challenges you face. As you progress, Shanelle will help you evaluate your next phase and empathetically guide you into new chapters.

Ms. Connell is has has training and experience with contemporary CBT models while offering a chance to explore theoretical perspectives, attachment theory, humanistic approaches, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  Additionally, she has completed her certificate in Attachment Repair Processing Therory – aimed at repairing attachment and relationships through corrective emotional interventions that promote neuroplasticity and attachment security. Being very open to feedback, Shanelle is always happy to tailor her approach to her client’s needs.

In her work, she enjoys helping young adults, adults, and seniors define their therapeutic goals while staying compassionate toward their story. Shanelle understands that growth takes time and is not always linear, meaning that as you work on building self-esteem, setting boundaries and restructuring your coping mechanisms – she’ll stand in as a safe and reassuring guide while you navigate this process. Many of her clients enjoy her down-to-earth demeanour as they explore traumatic events and redefine their future – as she’ll meet you where you are at and offer tools to help get you where you want to be.

Shanelle obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan, and her Masters in Counselling Psychology with distinction from Yorkville University. Currently, she is registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC # 22253) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) (RP(Qualifying) #15126). These registrations may be approved by your insurance provider, and receipts are issued so you can seek reimbursement. In some cases, direct billing can be achieved with some insurance carriers.

If you book appointments for a longer duration and/or increased frequency than this, your online booking permissions will be revoked.
